Ma Tau Kok Road. Kowloon. Mixed Media on Canvas. 175 x 490cm
Paintings from my art residency in Artist Commune, Hong Kong, in October – November 2002.
Layers of paintings were developing from first day impressions and by daily additions of new layers which were found through walks, photo survey of the city (mainly Kowloon site) and through experiments with local materials
– transparency,
– infinite structural and textural layers,
– fluidity of water based media,
– black as a colour,
– shades of grey,
– facades as a vertical landscape,
– King of Kowloon graffiti,
– bamboo scaffoldings drawing
are main influence for HK Diaries and were further developed in series of big canvases “Kowloon Red”, “Dust and Clay” paintings and “3D drawings” which were exhibited at Artists Commune in Hong Kong at the end of my work there.

HK Diaries created my first black paintings and some textural experiments which later were developed in “Wharfs”, “Tai-O” and “Cheung Chau” series
