My Exhibition
at Cable Street Gallery was a transition from works on paper
to paintings. For the first time i was showing paintings and
after this show i almost abandoned work on paper - perhaps
london climate and ceasing moving constantly with a roll of
artworks behind my back was one of the reasons. may be i decided
to slow down and think a little while? may be i was putting
too much force into fragile paper skin with stubbing and scratching
bringing it almost to destruction and i was looking for harder
surface?
FROM
ESSAY “STEPPE” WRITTEN IN 1998:
“Action as the way of the simultaneous realisation invents
an open system in contrast to the aim-seeking approach; the
system without points and conclusions; where points are non
existing fractures and volumes unfolded into plane; where
the understanding, the statement "I know", is some
paranoid state if it is fixed and still. This is more about
extension of action, increasing of freedom and flexibility
of action, fluidity of it; going not to the limit. but mostly
from the limits, not to the aim, but out of it.” |
